Tenth Annual Littlefield Lecture Celebrates the Future of Nursing
and Technology

This year's Littlefield lecture kicks off the School's Power of Nursing capital campaign to build and equip a Nursing Science Center in the health sciences sector of campus. Join us on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. in Alumni Hall at the Health Sciences Learning Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The Tenth Annual Littlefield Leadership Lecture

Patricia Flatley Brennan, PhD, RN, will talk about how technology benefits nursing practice and patient care. She will discuss what patient/technology research questions need to be answered and address changing nursing education to ensure that nurses are ready for a technology-enriched future.

Dr. Brennan is one of the nation's leaders in the use of technology for health care. She is the Lillian S. Moehlman-Bascom Professor of Nursing at the UW–Madison School of Nursing and chair of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering.

Future of Nursing Open House

The Open House will include tours of the clinical simulation laboratory and the Health Sciences Learning Center. Faculty members will be on hand to talk about current research. Global health nursing students will share their immersion experiences on site in other cultures.

At 2:00 p.m. Chancellor Carolyn "Biddy" Martin will talk about the importance of nursing within an interdisciplinary academic health center. Babcock ice cream will be served following her address.

The Littlefield Leadership Lecture is free and open to the public. Join us on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. in Alumni Hall at the Health Sciences Learning Center. Get a map and driving directions to:
