The recent Institute of Medicine report on The Future of Nursing set forth new recommendations for transforming the nursing profession. One of the key recommendations is to double the number of nurses with doctoral degrees by 2020.
Our school has one of the top rated graduate programs in nursing in the United States and offers two doctoral degrees. Students pursuing the PhD—the highest degree conferred by the university—are prepared to develop, evaluate, and disseminate new knowledge in nursing. The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a clinical doctorate degree focused on preparing nurses for leadership roles in advanced clinical practice and education.
