Bachelor of Science Program
Program Requirements
The Bachelor of Science program prepares individuals for careers in professional practice and provides a basis for progressing to leadership roles and graduate study. Nursing courses emphasize clinical decision-making and the application of theoretical knowledge from nursing and other disciplines in determining nursing action. Students work with other members of a health care team in planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
For most students, nursing comes alive in their clinical experiences, which occur during the junior and senior years. A wide variety of clinical sites are available to students—from the fast-paced intensity of one of the nation's busiest organ transplant programs to the challenge of caring for a largely immigrant population at a community health center.
The 124-credit curriculum comprises courses in general education, nursing practice, and electives. Requirements for graduation are included in the Undergraduate Catalog.
