Nurse Educator Certificate Program

Admission

The application opens in early September, and all materials must be received by November 1 for consideration for spring semester admission.

Eligibility Requirements for Admission to NECCP

  1. Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program or currently enrolled in a DNP or PhD in nursing program
  2. RN license
  3. MS GPA of 3.0

Application Process

Apply to one of the following:

  1. If in a doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, communicate your interest in the certificate to your program director or student services coordinator. Complete the Application Form (pdf).
  2. If not in the doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, apply for the Capstone Certificate as a University Special Student through the Division of Continuing Studies. Applicants should select Capstone Certificate as Reason for Applying, and Nurse Educator Capstone Certificate Program (UNCS 726) as the program.

      Submit the following materials in one envelope:

      • Application Form (pdf)
      • Nurse Educator Transcript Instruction Sheet (pdf)
      • Post-Graduate Education Statement that addresses the following:
        • Your interest in post graduate education. You might address: Why is post-graduate education important to you at this point in your career? What do you hope to gain from this experience? Do you have past professional experiences that will frame this educational experience?
        • Your preparation for successful achievement of our program learning outcomes. You might address how your past experience as a student will impact your success in our program. What is your learning style and how will this impact your success in our program? Will blended learning or travel to campus be a factor for your success in the program?
        • Your potential to make contributions to nursing education. You might address how your completion of this program will affect your work. How will you interact with and support other nurse educators? Curriculum vitae or resume
      • Photocopy of nursing license from your current state of residence

    Letters of Recommendation

    Submit letters of recommendation from three people who can attest to your goals and ability to be successful in the program. Address them to the Nurse Educator Certificate Program Committee and mail them directly to the program coordinator:
